Some of the features for the Nikon D5000 lens are Scene Recognition System with Face Detection System, image sensor, Live View shooting and movie clips.
For the scene recognition system with face detection system, the D5000 uses a 420-pixel sensor to analyse the colour and illumination across the scene a mere milliseconds prior to exposure. This enables a better scene content and much improved exposure for high image quality, as well as enhancing autofocus performance. The Nikon D5000 detects human faces using its ‘Face Detection’ System in a similar fashion.
With 12.3 megapixels, the Nikon D5000 lens produces a high resolution image with some brilliant enlarging capability. It has a high signal-to-noise ratio, which means images can be captured with low noise even if shooting at a high ISO setting.
The Live View shooting is said to be very versatile, which is further helped by the Vari-angle monitor that can be accessed with one-touch ease via a ‘Live View’ button. The addition of subject tracking has improved ‘Autofocus’ with Live by a great deal. In addition to this, there are three more modes that come with the D500, which are ‘face priority Autofocus’ for automatically detecting anything up to five faces in a scene, whilst focusing more sharply on the closest face, a ‘wide area Autofocus for large areas and optimal shooting and normal area Autofocus for focusing accuracy and good results with a tripod.
It was user demand that inspired Nikon to introduce Movie clips with D-Movie for video shooting capability. The D5000 with Nikon’s D-Movie function was originally available on the Nikon D90. It provides users with plenty of flexibility when capturing JPEG movie clips in various different formats up to 24 frames per second. Also, for good quality playback, the D5000 can produce clips at pixels of 1,280 x 720 and for those who only want it for viewing on standard computer monitors are able to shoot at 640 x 424 pixels. This is because the sensor on the D5000 sensor is a lot larger than typical camcorders.
Also, the D5000 is compatible with NIKKOR AF-S and AF-I lenses, which provide a good range of possibilities for dramatic expression, whether they are close-ups, fisheye shots or wide-angle to long telephoto scenes.
To make all of the above better and easier, Nikon has a Vari-angle monitor that rotates down 90° and across 180°, which allows users to shoot peculiar angles in the ‘Live View’ mode. The new monitor which has a 230,000-dot LCD, provides an easy view from almost all kinds of shooting angles. Along with all this, the monitor can also easily be tucked against the camera when not in use.
